A disease state approach to pharmacological management of type 2 diabetes in primary care

The purpose of this course is to upskill healthcare professionals using the recent PCDE position statement publication. This consensus has been written following evidence-based-guidelines and latest research findings to effectively manage people with type 2 diabetes in order to improve their quality of care and outcomes.

The course is structured in three modules, each of which contains a discussion of a clinical case, relevant reading list, and an infographic that covers the key aspects of the topic. Pre and post survey will be used by a multiple choice questions.


Learning objectives

  • To understand the importance of early glycaemic control in people newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes without established cardio-renal disease
  • To understand the need for focus on combining glycaemic control cardiovascular risk reduction in people with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease
  • To understand the need for focus on combining glycaemic control prevention of renal deterioration
